My client just got sent an email from IDM UK demanding  £180 for their domain renewal and threatening: ‘Non-payment will result in deactivation of service’.

In the small print of the email it admits: ‘We are not your registrar’

As google Ai explains:
IDM UK claims to operate an office at Unit D19, 82 King Street, Manchester, M2 4WD, but security reports flag this address and their domain renewal notices as potentially fraudulent.

What to Know About IDM UK in Manchester
  • Listed Address: Unit D19, 82 King St, Manchester, M2 4WD. [1]

  • Reported Activity: The entity sends unsolicited domain renewal or listing notifications charging fees (such as £96), though they state in small print that they are not a official domain registrar. [1, 2]

  • Verification Warning: Local business registry checks indicate no legitimate trading company under the name IDMUK operates at the stated King Street address. You can review further user experiences on the Trustpilot IDM UK Review Page. [1]

So if you get this email – at the very least check the small print and check with your actual domain registrar that this email is a scam.
