Gmail stops working on Thunderbird Mail – wrong password

Today Gmail stopped working  on my Mail Program Thunderbird.  i used my Google Account password which still worked to login to Google and yes Gmail would not work??!! Turns out that Google had turned on 2Steop Authentication and now most Apps outside of Google will not work. Unless…you get a special passsword just for that app from Google Login to your google account Top right under your icon click on Manage your Google Account Click on Security Scroll down to Signing into Google and click on App passwords Create a new password for your app and it works!

Today Gmail stopped working  on my Mail Program Thunderbird.  i used my Google Account password which still worked to login to Google and yes Gmail would not work??!!

Turns out that Google had turned on 2Steop Authentication and now most Apps outside of Google will not work.

Unless…you get a special passsword just for that app from Google

  1. Login to your google account
  2. Top right under your icon click on Manage your Google Account
  3. Click on Security
  4. Scroll down to Signing into Google and click on App passwords
  5. Create a new password for your app

and it works!
